Wow, great memories.

Is saw the Mason Dixon Line band at
Camp Pelham in 1985. I was at HHC 1/31 in Camp Howze 85-87.

Good times, bad times.

I bought the cassette from the band, and can rip it to MP3s if anyone wants it.

I first heard this song when I was stationed at Kwang Ju AB. We were up at Osan and stopped in the Frontier Club and heard this song performed live by a group call the Kimchee Cowboys. I laughed so hard I cried. Some of the words were different. It was "four days to DEROS and past my PCOD" but I really enjoyed hearing it again. Thanks!!!

I was also there in 86/87 JSA 2nd Platoon. SP4 Kerr. remember the song well. And miss lee, and the others. Remember seeing the band at the enlisted club. The was one hell of a year in my life. Would love to see Korea again. hit Itaewon, Son ju ree, and my fav. Yon ju go.

Korea was something else. I'll always wonder what if.. I had married a certain girl there i knew. Will always wonder what became of her.

oh well... Time moves on. :)

I served in South Korea from Oct 68 to June 69 in the 2nd/32nd 7th infantry Division pulling guard on a missel site about 60 miles from Soule.(Joyu) Not sure of spelling. After arriving from a stint in Vietman with the 1st Air Cav I found Korea a wonderful place to serve. Had many Korean girlfriends and have no regrets. All the girls had to have monthly VD checks so picking up a disease was not easy to do as long as the girl had a updated card. Some of the most fun times in my life occurred there.

Boo-fuckin-hoo to the last two comments. Do you know how racist (learn how to spell that word btw Chris) the Koreans are? and not only to americans, they hate everyone. I speak Korean and lived over there for several years, and have traveled back and forth many more times. Do you know how much shit they talk behind your back when they think you dont understand them? Or how they try to fuck you in every way possible in any sort of business dealing? Do you have any clue how much the younger generations (who dont remember us saving their asses in the Korean War) hate us? I'm going to venture a guess of no to all of the above.

Now to top all this off i fucking love kimchee and just about all korean food. But i hate it when they walk by my table when i'm cooking my food and snatch the tongs and scissors out of my hands like i dont know how to cook my fucking bulgogi because i'm white. And korean prostitutes arent bad either, but you know what, most will only fuck Koreans, how racist is THAT shit huh? Or how about the signs on some bars saying 'no Americans'? Get over yourselves, douchebags.

And to close, its all in good humor and sarcasm, but obviously that escapes you guys...i have Korean friends i've played it for and they think its hilarious.

Sorry but this is a rasist song. It is a shame and a hit into every koreans face. And it is a good example how most americans behave like monkeys when they are guests in a foreign culture. Does anyone wonder about why americans "are so welcome" in the rest of the world ?

Wow, this is pretty ignorant. It truly diplays why people in other countries can't stand Americans and their intolerance. I also don't see why it's funny. Nothing funny about a white guy going to marry a Korean woman and not wanting to learn any part of her culture. Only wanting her to assimilate to American culture....soooo typcical.

I am half Korean and eat Kimchee when my "yobo" is out working. I know it does not smell that good to the average person. But this song made me laugh so loud, my son thought I was crazy....funny stuff....

Wow cool! I was there from 1989 to 1993 and toward the end of our tour I couldn't find the tape again in any of the bars. Does anyone have this on tape / CD? Want to sell it?

Keven here are the other two verses:

Well it’s up in the morning and to the latrine. It hurts when I pee I’ve been out with a queen. Come on doc you gotta make me clean. To hell with Itawon and all her VD.

You know when my tours over and I go back home. Back to my true love never more to roam. Well all I’ll think about is her misery . To hell with Itawon all all her VD.

Well I did my best to recall the words to the song Ode to Korea, which I recall being Ode to the 8th Army. I remember buying a copy of the tape in a club in Itewan.
I'm sure I'm missing something here but it's close.

Ode to Korea / Ode to 8th Army

Well here’s to 8th Army one hell of a place, the way that it’s run is a friging disgrace there’s privates and corporals and sergeants too with their thumbs up their asses and nothing to do.

They rant and they rave and they scream and shout, they talk about things they know nothing about, for all their worth they might as well be, shoveling shit on the DMZ.

Well heres to 8th Army one hell of a place, the way that it’s run is a friging disgrace, there’s captains and majors and light colonels too with their thumps up their asses and nothing to do.

The "Mason Dixon Line" band, of which I was a member, did the Kimchee song. Mason Dixon Line released 2 albums in Korea...."Number Hanna" and "On the Road Some More". These albums contain many other GI favorites such as " Fine time to Burn Me Ms.Lee" and "Ode to Korea". We lived and worked in Korea during the mid 1980's.
